Locally, Linda has volunteered and been a member of the local chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. Their active Chapter serves the children of the community through monetary donations, programs and assistance with basic needs.  She has also attended 40 hours of training in order to become an advocate for Beth’s Place, a home in the community that serves as a safe shelter for women and children that are homeless and/or victims of domestic violence.  Within her school district, Linda served as the Lifesaver co-sponsor for four years.  This national program promotes an alcohol and drug free lifestyle within the entire district.

Professionally, Linda is a Certified Veterinary Technician at the University of Illinois with the Agricultural Animal Care and Use Program.  She served as the Corresponding/Recording Secretary for the Veterinary Technician Association of Illinois from 1989-1992 and as Treasurer from 1993-1995.  In addition, she served as Vice President of the Illinois Society of Histotechnologists, Central Chapter, in 1996.  Within her profession, she has published scientific articles and a chapter within a textbook.

Linda has two daughters, Christin (Brown) Shirazi and Alexandria Brown who have truly been a blessing in her life.
